Civil | Arbitration

On Friday, August 27, 2010, the Compulsary Arbitration
Office and Courtrooms are being relocated to:

The Arbitration Center
702 City-County Building
414 Grant Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15219-2469

The compulsory arbitration system in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County is the oldest of its kind in the country, and its success has resulted in its being the model for similar systems throughout the Commonwealth and in other states. Basically, it provides for simple and concise pleadings and a trial of the issues within a short time of filing of suit, enabling the parties to fairly resolve the claim with a minimum of expense and time.

The arbitration system in Allegheny County is compulsory non-binding arbitration, with a ceiling of $25,000 on civil damage awards. This office is located on the fifth floor of the Courthouse, 436 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. The hearing room is located in room 523 of the courthouse. Anna Majocha is the supervisor of arbitration and can be reached at (412) 350-5625.

PA Bar Institute's Civil Court Manual, Section 10 - Arbitration, as updated.
