This probation/parole is granted with the full understanding that you have been placed under the supervision of this department by the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Everyone on probation/parole must comply with the general rules of supervision. You must comply with any special Court Order or conditions imposed by the Court at the time of your sentencing, or subsequently added during the course of supervision. A probation/parole officer will be assigned to your case, whose job it is to carry out the general order of Court. An important part of the officer’s responsibility is to help you in the interpretation of conditions of your probation/parole and to assist you in complying with the terms of your probation/parole. Should problems arise, or questions occur, concerning the condition of your probation/parole, consult with your probation officer.

Field visits may be conducted by your supervising officer. By law, you must permit search of your person, vehicle, and/or place of abode (where such place of abode is legally under your control). Narcotic implements, illegal drugs, intoxicants, and/or contraband are subject to seizure by a probation/parole officer.

If you commit an offense while under supervision, or violate any of the rules of supervision or special condition of your case, the Probation Office will review the circumstances and nature of the violation. As a result, the Court may be informed of the violation, for a formal or informal decision. The Probation Office is also authorized by the Court to have you arrested, and can place a detainer against you, which will in effect keep you confined until resolution of the violation. The specifics of any detainer will be brought to the Court’s attention.

For a conviction resulting from a new offense attributable to your probation/parole, or for serious and/or persistent technical violations, after an appropriate hearing by the Court your probation/parole may be revoked. For probation violation, a period of confinement may be imposed. For parole violation, the Court may recommit you to serve part, or all, of the balance of the sentence you were serving when paroled.

GENERAL RULES FOR PROBATIONERS AND PAROLEES

Ordinarily, persons under probation/parole supervision are required to report to the Probation Office monthly. Your probation officer may instruct you differently; if so, you must comply with those instructions. Also, you will make every effort to reply promptly to correspondence from the Court and Probation Office.

You must notify the Probation Office at once of any change of address or employment. You will make every effort to obtain and maintain employment, and meet your family responsibilities.

You may not leave the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania without permission from the Court or the Probation Office, and the Clerk of Courts if money is owed.

If you are arrested – or even cited without being apprehended – for any new offense occurring during the period of supervision, you must inform the Probation Office within 72 hours; it is also your obligation to inform the arresting officer that you are on probation/parole. If you become aware that you are being investigated by any law enforcement agency, you must also report this to the Probation Office.

You will abstain from the unlawful possession, use or sale of illicit drugs and from abuse of prescription drugs. When ordered by your supervising officer, you will submit to any recognized tests that are available to determine whether you have been using drugs and/or alcohol.

You may not possess, control, or use firearms if you have been convicted of a felony. This is also true if you have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving a crime of violence.

You must refrain from any overt behavior which threatens or presents a danger to yourself or other.

SPECIAL CONDITION: If there is a special condition of this probation/parole, the appropriate box below will be checked. You must comply as directed with this special condition. The details of the special condition will be reviewed with you by your supervising officer at the initial interview.
