Children's Playroom Information Video

The Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas is pleased to offer childcare to summoned jurors at no cost. The trained and experienced staff will provide an enjoyable and safe experience for your child while you perform jury service.

The Children’s Playroom, located on the ground floor of the Family Law Center, 440 Ross Street, is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The playroom will accept children between the ages of six months and six years who are not yet in elementary school and whose parent/legal guardian has been summoned for jury service in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.When school is not in session, children of all ages will be accepted. Children who are home-schooled are accepted year-round.

Registering for childcare is a two-step process.

1. Reservation
  Reservations must be made upon receipt of your summons (or as soon as possible thereafter) by telephoning 412-350-4588. We will attempt to accommodate all childcare requests, however, limited space is available. Unfortunately, we cannot accept walk-ins.
   
2. Registration
  A completed Children’s Playroom Registration Form must be presented upon your child’s arrival to the playroom. If possible, please download, print, and complete the form in advance. Upon your arrival to the playroom, the staff will provide you with additional information regarding the operation of daycare services.
   
  Please Note:
 
If you leave the court premises, you must take your child with you.
For infants, please provide formula, food, and diapers. Snacks will be provided for older children.
Children with nausea or fever, special needs, i.e., dietary, medical, emotional or behavioral issues cannot be accommodated in the playroom at this time.
Any child with a contagious condition or a medical condition requiring medication will not be admitted to the playroom. Contagious conditions include fever, rash associated with impetigo or chicken pox, pink eye, head lice, and ringworm.
The childcare room personnel will not administer medication.
The playroom is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Please take valuables with you.
