Bail Services | Court Liaison Services Unit
The Court Liaison Services Unit is located in the Pretrial Services main office.
The primary function of this unit is to present cases to Common Pleas Motions Court
for attorneys seeking bond reductions or bond revocations and present the reinstatements
of bonds that have been forfeited due to failure to appear. Motion hearings regarding
bail are held daily, and a member of the court staff is always present. Reevaluations
are completed on all cases where a request for a bond hearing has been made. Any
new information is placed into the risk assessment tool, and the recommendation is
presented in Motions Court. The Court Liaison Unit is also present for all video
hearings conducted in Motions Court from the Allegheny County Jail involving defendants who
are incarcerated due to apprehension on a failure to appear bench warrant. The
investigations on incarcerated defendants are completed by the Bail Unit Investigators
at the Allegheny County Jail.
The Pretrial Services Bail Court Liaison Unit also offers a "safe surrender" program.
This program enables defendants with active bench warrants for failure to appear
to report to the Pretrial Office by 9:00am, Monday through Friday. These defendants
will be escorted to the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office for surrender on those
warrants and be seen in Motions Court that same day to resolve the warrant.
The Allegheny County Pretrial policy on Bail Modifications and the form for attorneys
to submit a bail modification request are located on the main Bail Services Home
page.
