Fifth Judicial District of Pennsylvania
County of Allegheny
Family | Emergency Custody

If your situation does not involve a Juvenile Court case, two options are available to assist pro se litigants (not represented by counsel) who are experiencing a custody related emergency and would like to submit a Petition for Special Relief/Emergency Custody Motion for the Court of Common Pleas to intervene. You may proceed with option number one OR option number two below.

1. The Emergency Custody Electronic Petition Submission Tool, which can be accessed by clicking the appropriate box below, provides a step-by-step process for submitting a petition for relief using any electronic device.

OR

2. A Special Relief Emergency Motion Package, which can be accessed by clicking the appropriate box below, can be printed and completed for submission to the Court. You must return the Motion Admission and Emergency Motion/Custody Special Relief forms to the Court via email at emergencycustody@alleghenycourts.us.   Every attempt must be made to notify the other party either via text, email or phone that you are submitting this motion. The Court may attempt to contact you or the other party by phone or email to discuss and/or rule on your motion.  If you do not respond to these attempts, your motion may be denied. If you have a custody order in place, your request must be submitted with an attached copy of your current custody order.

Please Note: The Court email account is monitored Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Emails sent to this address are strictly limited to submission of Motion Admission and Emergency Motion/Custody Relief forms. This is not a general assistance email account, nor will the Court provide legal advice.
