HOW TO REQUEST A HEARING
To request a hearing, please email your request for a hearing date to PMCPaymentHearing@alleghenycourts.us with your full name, address, date of birth, phone number, e-mail address and all case numbers for which you owe fines and/or costs.
Once you have sent the e-mail, you will hear from the Court within 5-7 business days. If appropriate, a Payment Determination Hearing will be scheduled in-person at Pittsburgh Municipal Court, and you will receive notice in the mail informing you of the date and time of your hearing. If your case(s) does not qualify for a Payment Determination Hearing, a staff member will contact you to inform you.
At the Payment Determination Hearing, a Magisterial District Judge will review your financial situation and determine if a reduction in fines and/or costs is appropriate. All cases require the submission of an “In Forma Pauperis” affidavit for the judge’s review. You can save time at your hearing by filling out the affidavit in advance. A link to download the affidavit is provided on this page for your convenience.

* Restitution owed is not eligible for review. Cases where fines or costs have not yet been set are not eligible for review. In addition, not all people will qualify for a reduction, as decisions regarding your ability to pay are made by a Magisterial District Judge on a case-by-case basis. If you wish to request a Payment Determination Hearing for a case that occurred outside of Pittsburgh Municipal Court, please contact the local Magisterial District Court to arrange for a hearing.
