The mission of DUI Court is to make the multiple DUI offender often referred to as “hard-core drunk driver” accountable for their actions by bringing about a behavioral change that ends DUI recidivism or other criminal behavior through the use of long-term judicial intervention, intensive probation supervision, and drug and alcohol treatment. Protecting public safety is paramount. Sanctions and incentives are used to motivate compliance.
Referral Process- Any individual wishing to participate in the Allegheny County DUI Court should, through his or her attorney, complete a “DUI Court Referral Form”. The Office of the District Attorney can also identify cases suitable for DUI Court disposition at the pre-trial screening stage of the criminal proceedings.
